There will be an Indoor Fun-Fly and Swap Shop held in the gym at Moncton Lewisville Middle School on March 13th, 2010. This will be hosted by the Greater Moncton Aeromodelers and sponsored by RC Canada. Hours for the Fun-Fly will be from 1000 to 1700 in the Lewisville Middle School Gym which can accommodate most indoor aircraft. The time period of 1130-1200 will be devoted to Free Flight aircraft only. At 1500 let’s see how many aircraft and helicopters we can be put in the air to establish a new Canadian record! 2.4 Ghz is preferred for the indoor flying. Aircraft must be under 16 ozs and max size for Helis is 250. This will be a MAAC Sanctioned event. The Swap Shop portion of the event will be held in the school cafeteria. Don’t forget to bring your new projects to display. The keynote speaker will be Richard Barlow, MAAC President who will give a presentation on MAAC. Lewisville Middle school is located at 45 McAuley Dr, Moncton, NB, Admission will be $10 for participants , $5 for spectators and children under 12 are free. Admission covers all events. This is a recurring event from noon until 1:30. As this dome is fabric, airplanes are limited to 12 oz max and no more than 80W of power. Exceptions may be granted on a case-by-case basis. Highly stable, "living room" class helicopters are also allowed (e.g. coaxial types). Come out to the sixth annual Saskatoon Heli Annual Gathering....or SHAG 2010. This event will be held on the first weekend in May (May 1st & 2nd) at the HCRCC field. The event will kick off Friday evening ( April 30th ) from 7p-9p at the Sasktel Sports Centre for the indoor fun fly portion of the event. The evening will mark the official end of the indoor flying season, and Sat. morning will mark the official start of the outdoor season! A contest in memory of our friend Bud Wallace … The Southern Ontario Glider Group Inc. (SOGGI) invites you to the Bud Wallace open-class man-on-man sailplane contest. Pilots from other clubs are very welcome. For pilots who are new to sailplane contests, coaching will be available. “Open Class” means any R/C sailplane. In “man-on-man” competition, for each contest Round every contestant must try to accomplish the same assigned flight time (e.g. fly a 10 minute flight), plus land on a target. All scorecards must be turned in within the time-span allowed for that round (e.g. 30 minutes). We will have as many Rounds as time and conditions permit. Your score for each Round will be determined by proximity to the assigned flight time combined with proximity to the landing target. The sum of scores from all Rounds will determine contest prizes to Third Place. The contest will be held on Saturday June 19, 2010 (rain date June 20). Registration will begin at 9 AM and the Pilots Meeting will be at 10 AM sharp. Location will be a sod farm site near Mt. Hope (Hamilton) Ontario. Entry fee will be $10 and every contestant must show his valid MAAC card. All pilots please bring a stopwatch and frequency pin. We would appreciate having extra winches on hand, in case unexpected numbers of contestants show up. Avon RC Flyers is having a benefit fun fly to raise money for one of its youngest members Tyler Hilchie.(MAAC # 80669-J) Tyler is completely deaf,and at the age of 2 received a cochlear implant to allow him to hear. Tyler is now 12 and the unit he has is very outdated. The cost of a new cochear unit cost about 10,000 (American). All proceeds from this fun fly will go toward Tylers new hearing device. There will be a barbecue, prizes, and games for the kids. All fliers must carry a current Maac card. Starts at 10:00, hope to have a good turn out. The High River RC Jet Club invite you to attend the Jets Over Cayley jet rally, at Cayley Alberta(just 45 minutes south of Calgary)on July 23-25th. Signs will direct you from Highway #2 to the airport 4 miles east of the Cayley turnoff. A 2010 MAAC membership or AMA current membership with a Turbine wavier will be required to fly. Flying will be from 9 am each morning after an 8:30 pilot's meeting and will conclude approximately 5 pm Friday, Saturday and 3 pm Sunday. There will be a Saturday night banquet at the Nanton Lancaster Museum. Prices to be determined. Once you pay for your banquet ticket that allows you admission to the museum to observe the restored aircraft and artifacts. As a speical treat the volunteers will be giving us an engine run up on the Lancaster. Concession will be onsite as well as limited hangar space for models with a 10.00 fee. Bayview Park is located at the north-west end of Burlington, on King Rd, just north of the South Service Rd, 2 lights west of Brant Street. This field is 40 minutes west of Toronto and 10 minutes east of Hamilton. Take the QEW highway to the Brant Street Exit. Go north bound to the first set of lights and turn left at the North Service Rd. Go 2 lights west to King Rd. Turn right (north) and go about 1/2 mile. The field is on your left hand side. Look for the wind sock and the white shed. This field has a 15,000 square foot asphalt paved runway specifically for radio controlled aircraft. The cost for admission is only $5.00. Sailplanes (Scale and non-Scale with aileron control) to 6 meters will be hauled skyward by the tugs available. Spectators are welcome. Drop by and chat or even volunteer to act as a spotter for a sailplane pilot (Spotters require a keen eye and the patience of Jove) and you will learn much about aerotowing and probably extend your vocabulary. The Greater Ottawa Aero-Tow group will host its tenth annual aero-tow fun fly at the Arnprior RC field on 11 and 12 September 2010. Flying will begin at 09:00 each day, weather permitting, but talking about aero-towing will begin much earlier, rain or shine. While this is a pretty informal get-together, current MAAC or AMA membership is required. Spectators are also encouraged to drop by to chat, take some pictures or just hang out. Coffee, a great lunch, and plenty of water will be provided for a registration fee of $10.00 and Saturday evening will feature a dinner gathering - where more talking about flying (and other things) can take place. The Arnprior RC field is located a half-hour west of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and features a 750 foot-long grass runway with plenty of surrounding bailout area.
